Devaki Amma Memmorial Teacher
Education College is situated at Malayalamkunnath, in
Chelembra Village,3KMs from Idimuzhikkal (NH 17) in Malappuram
Distric,Kerala,Idimuzhikkal is 1.5KM from Ramanattukara.This
is an Unaided College established in 2001 and managed by
Devaki Amma Memorial Trust.The college is functioning in a
permanent building owned by the Trust,the college is located
in a pollution free village,adjacent to the Narayanan Nair
Memorial Higher Secondary School, Chelembra.Devaki Amma
Memorial Trust has established a pharmacy college in an
adjacent campus.
A nursing college also has been sanctioned to the trust by the
Government of Kerala and the inspection of the nursing council
was held.We hope to offer Bsc Nursing course soon.
The Govt.Of Kerala in their order No.GO(Rt)1034\2001\H.Edn.dated
21-06-2001. have accorded sanction to start the college. It is
affiliated to the University of Calicut and is recognized by
the NCTE(SRC) Banglore vide order No:F.KL\SE\N\07\SRO\NCTE\2002-2003\2318
dated 05-08-2002.Recognition by the NCTE is renewed up to
date.
In the order NoF.KL/ELE/N/SRO/NCTE/2005-2325 Dt 09-08-05 the
NCTE has accorded permission to start TTC course in our campus
from the academic year 2005-2006.The Govt. of Kerala have
recoganized the course and the Examinations are conducted by
the state Board of Public
Examinations, Poojapura, Trivananthapuram.
The Teacher Education College aims at producing teachers for
the primary and secondary level with excellence in
professional skills and attitudes, moral uprightness and social
commitment.
The courses offered are:
B.Ed in (1) English(2) Malayalam (3) Natural Science and (4)
Social Studies. The duration of the course is one academic
year.
TTC(DEd) with a duration of two academic years

The College is equipped with all the
required infrastructural facilities, sufficient
laboratories( psychology lab, two Science Labs, Technology
lab, Language and Computer lab).
The College library has 4765 books,7set volumes of
Encycolopaedia,482 reference books,21 educational journals and
9 periodicals. A good collection of Education CD ROMs
consisting of 161 numbers, is the strength of our library.
Physical education instructor is been appointed in the
institution and separate hour is been allotted for physical
development of the students. The college has a big and
beautiful play ground in front of the college. Sports and
athletics day is celebrated every year. Work Experience is also
a subject in the curriculum in our college. A separate faculty
is identified and appointed for the purpose.
At present there are fully qualified teachers as per the norms
of the NCTE, for B.Ed and T T C Courses. For the conduct of
M.Ed course we have identified and appointed fully qualified
and experienced faculty members. Our principal and teachers are
invited as resource persons for conducting seminars and mass
awareness programmes in various schools, colleges and NGO
forums. KSLMA,I GNOU, ASC, IMG, CTES, IASE, Etc also avail the
services of our faculty for extension lectures.
Many dignitaries visited our college in the previous years for
interacting with the students and for conducting seminars. In
the last academic year we organized a creative workshop for
producing instructional materials based on the revised
psychology curriculum of the Calicut University. Teacher
educators from almost all the colleges of education attended
the seminars and experts in each area were invited to
enlighten the participants.
Our students participated in many inter collegiate and
university level competitions. The academic record of our
students in University Examinations also is commendable. Almost
all our students in the previous years have been employed.
Devaki Amma Memorial Teacher Education College, Chelembra, has
now established its identity. It is with a sense of contentment
that we have fulfilled our cherished goals as envisaged by the
Government, NCTE, University of Calicut and the society ,we now
venture, upon starting the Post Graduate Course in Teacher
